These pages from a magazine supplement entitled ‘Home Notes’ dated 11th March 1939, only six months from the commencement of the second world war, show a life of normality, far removed from world politics. But though life carried on much as before, it would not be long before restrictions and rationing began to raise their ugly heads.
Six months later Britain and her allies were at war and would be for the next six years and one day. Many things were to change, for better or for worse. But that is for many other posts, many differing sources. For the moment, just ponder and enjoy.
